Centro Buen Pastor

El Centro Buen Pastor (Good Shepherd Center) in Barrio Las Flores, San Pedro de Macoris, provides a school, nutrition center clinic and place of worship.

Las Flores is a very poor barrio and the services provided by the Sisters of the transfiguration are sorely needed. The school provides preschool and K-3 classes to over 100 children. Very few of the parents can afford to pay tuition and nearly all the children are on a scholarship (beca, in Spanish).

Few of these children would even be able to attend the public schools, which still require that they provide their own uniforms and books.
